Advanced Traffic Management System
Advanced Traffic Management System is a comprehensive platform of traffic management that covers monitoring, control and safety on highways. VaaaN’s ATMS is a combination of various complementary technologies which increases situational awareness, providing a comprehensive picture of what is coming down the road at any given time. This solution helps to proactively manage the transportation network and enhance the travel experience for commuters. Specifically, VaaaN’s ATMS helps the highway authorities to:

- Increase visibility of incidents across a diverse set of traffic systems
- Improved incident response and traffic flow
VaaaN has successfully implemented ATMS over a length of 176 Km onNagpur – Betul section of Madhya Pradesh & Maharashtra which also,has been awarded as “India’s Best ATMS Project” from NHAI.
Automatic Traffic Counter and Classifier: ATCC detects and records all categories of vehicles based on their length and no. of axles and distance between the axles.The system works on the most trusted IR technology with the ability to transfer real-time data on OFC and/ or GSM networks along with the in-built memory to store classification data for one month or more, depending on the traffic conditions.
Command and Control Centre: CCR facilitates the user to control the highway traffic system by providing real time traffic data. This is done by integrating and processing all the data received from field equipment which ensures proper and on time reaction to any type of situation assuring maximum safety to all traffic participants.
Emergency Call Box: Emergency Call Boxes, as the name suggests, is used by the Road user in distress to contact & inform the Highway Control Center about any unfavorable situations. The information is passed upon to initiate a response or facilitate the User in distress. ECB are generally located on the either side of the highway typically at a distance of 2 Km each.
Meteorological System: MET station is a facility with instruments and equipment to make observations of atmospheric conditionsincluding temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction. Each meteorological Station consist of set of sensors that comprises of thermocouple /pyrometer, humidity meter, anemometer, visibility meter, pavement surface temperature measuring equipment and Data processing Computer.
Mobile Radio Communication System: MRCS comprises of the mobile radio base stations and Handheld Devices useful in for verbal communications between in the concerned persons in the time of need. It shall also have provision for mounting mobile set on ambulances, & patrolling vehicles.
Surveillance System: Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera are used for Highway Surveillance. The video camera with pan, tilt and zoom feature will be mounted at a height so as to cover the target length of highway. It will have a 360 degree angular travel in the horizontal plane and a tilt of 90 degrees down from 0 degrees horizontal.
Variable Message Sign: Variable Message Signs (VMS) are used to provide the requisite information to road users to improvise their safety and travel experience on the highway. VaaaN VMS comes in various sizes: from smaller post-mounted signals on the central reservation to large signs on overhead gantries. There are even mobile electronic message signs that can be used to display real-time traffic information where there are no fixed signs available.
