Vehicle Actuated Speed Display (VASD) is a sub-system of Speed Violation Detection System (SVDS) or, Vehicle Speed detection System (VSDS); which is meant to provide feedback to the vehicle driver whether he/she is over-speeding or, within Speed limits prescribed on the highway/expressway. The sub-system consists of a VASD Local Processing Unit which interfaces to a RADAR and displays lane-wise speed on respective Speed displays – all mounted on a Gantry facing incoming traffic. This controller shall receive raw data from the interfaced RADAR and display lane-wise speed on the Speed Display Units (maximum 5 numbers/lanes) as per Project specific Class and speed limit definitions. The VASD Controller shall also send time-stamped data to the associated Control Centre for further processing. The Controller is designed to interface to any type of RADAR and Speed Display over Ethernet/RS 485.
VASD System consists of RADAR as the Vehicle Speed Detector, VASD Local Processing Unit & multiple lane-wise Speed Displays.
The VASD Controller is connected on a Gantry with below mentioned input-outputs.
- AC Power Input – 3 Core Power Cable (Voltage range 220V, 50 Hz, 1 phase AC)
- RADAR input over RS-485 / Ethernet - The VASD Controller cabinet has a RS-485 to Ethernet Converter
- Output to Speed Displays over Ethernet RJ45: Upto 5 displays per incoming traffic direction
- Output to external network switch which allows connection to associated Control Room over fibre-optic cable
